A wonderful account Jeff of your meeting with Bruce and what a fantastic experience. I know how you felt. I was beside myself when I met him albeit briefly in London a few weeks ago. Having waited 35 years for this opportunity I was sure I would have a tourettes moment, but somehow I managed to string a sentence together – my encounter was filmed by the BBC so the nation as well at Bruce would have recoiled at my gibbering! What a modest and lovely man he is.

Referring to Racing in the Streets, Bruce said that you would love to protect your children from all the hurt and sadness in the world, but you can’t. It is part of what you experience in life. But, you hope your children have the resilience to bounce back from the hurt and move on. I thought the answer was amazing!
