• UPDATE: Opening Day note to the Cubs: You get one more chance AND THAT’S IT I MEAN IT THIS TIME.
Eddie Vedder furnishes the new “Go Cubs Go,” “A Dying Cub Fan’s Last Request” or possibly “The Cubbies Are Rockin’.” (Download the official version straight from the Pearl Jam camp, because they’re good people).
Oh, sure, “Go All The Way” isn’t quite as hopelessly boundy, carbonated and terrible as “Men In Blue,” but what’s what happens when you write a Cubs-themed song and don’t ask Gary Woods and Jody Davis to perform on it. (I mean, Woods is a primal monster on the tambourine, but if you’re OK with your decision, Mr. Big Shot I Sold Out Soldier Field And Get Christmas Cards From Springsteen, whatever.)
Live version below is the song’s debut, taken from Vedder’s pre-set at Chicago’s Vic Theatre in August 2007; it’s a little bootleggy but includes a highly endearing sequence in which he completely forgets the words. If this is not a moment Cubs fans can identify, with, I can’t imagine what is.

This is so awesome! Thanks for posting. I’ve been looking for it for a while. As far as the Go Cubs Go cd, well worth the $20. I also recommend “I Believe in Miracles,” sung by Eddie Vedder. Personally I think it should be OUR “Journey” song.
Anyhow, great song and go Cubs

CUBS BLOW, THEY ARE A JOKE, AND ANY AMERICAN LEAGUE TEAM WILL KILL THEM IN THE BIG SHOW (IF THE LOSERS EVEN MAKE IT)

Heard the song on the radio for the first time today (101.9- chicago) The DJ said they only released 100 copies of CD and at this point no other way to get a copy. Thanks for posting!

Hey, the new Eddie Veddor song “All the Way” from the his recent visit to Chicago is being played on 103.5 (the mix) here in Chicago, they played it twice today. Although they’ve only distributed 100 copies on disk to “certain people” enough requests, maybe he’ll actually cut the track on a consumer album?
September 18th, 2008 at 10:32 am
Yes it is the version being played in Chicago. Although they don’t add the stab at the White Sox at the end.
September 18th, 2008 at 10:35 am
Same song, different version. The one he recorded at the Aud. Theater is the one they’re playing on the radio. It’s basically the same, but much more “buttoned up”. Thanks for posting!!

“I Believe in Miracles,” sung by Eddie Vedder is a great song…actually PJ did it at Alpine a few years ago and Kerry Wood was there… every time before the chorus, EV would yell out to Kerry….as to say “Dude i believe in the cubs.”
goose bump city….
Also the first time I heard the cubs song was at the Vic last year and the place went nuuuts

It’s interesting that the Cubs music CD “Take Me Out to a Cubs Game” was mentioned (in Allen’s post). I know one of the producers for that CD and have heard rumors they are coming out with a new CD sometime soon that will include some new songs, possibly the Eddie Vedder song. I’m really hoping this makes it on, huge fan here.
For any other fans interested, the website for the CD is http://www.takemeouttoacubsgame.com

Eddie Vedder is a little man who should stick to rock and avoid sea shanties about terribly run sports franchises at all costs
